Approved – £10 million plans for historic George Hotel ‘a welcome boost’ to Colchester

Freshly approved plans to invest £10 million in transforming and expanding a historic town centre hotel have been labelled a ‘vote of confidence’ for Colchester’s future.   A scheme to completely refurbish the George Hotel, in High Street, has been given the green light by Colchester Borough Council.  The plans, submitted by developer Flying Trade Group, are expected to create about 40 jobs and include the conversion of the nearby St Nicholas House into a 44-bedroom hotel.
